The
Speaker of the Arab Parliament, Ali al-Salem al-Dekbasi said on Sunday
that the violent incidents taking place in Myanmar against the Muslims
were "ethnic cleansing".
In a message released on the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan,
al-Dekbasi drew attention to the developments taking place in the Arab
and Muslim world.
"Thousands of Muslims in Myanmar face massacre, genocide and ethnic
cleansing. I call on all Muslim leaders to urgently intervene in the
incidents," al-Dekbasi said.
"I call on the Myanmar authorities to arrest those responsible for the
attacks against the Muslims. All those responsible should be tried by
the International Criminal Court," al-Dekbasi stated.
Touching on the incidents in Syria, al-Dekbasi said that Arab and Muslim
leaders must say "stop" to the massacres committed by Bashar al-Assad.
On the Palestinian issue, al-Dekbasi stressed that the process of
conciliation between Hamas and Fatah should speed up in response to
Israel's efforts to turn Jerusalem into a Jewish region and efforts to
demolish the Al-Aqsa Mosque.
